Dover House transforms a single-fronted Victorian residence into a contemporary family home, seamlessly uniting heritage character with modern living. Set within a tightly bound inner-urban site, the landscape design plays a pivotal role in expanding the experience of space, crafting a series of finely tuned outdoor zones that enhance daily life.
Developed in close collaboration with the architectural team, the design reimagines the front garden, side corridors and rear courtyard as interconnected extensions of the home. Layered planting, sculptural forms and carefully orchestrated thresholds establish a continuous dialogue between inside and out. The compact rear garden accommodates a generous program including a plunge pool and spa, movable edible garden, and flexible spaces for both retreat and gathering.
Thoughtful detailing and spatial clarity ensure the landscape feels expansive, adaptable and deeply embedded in its context. Every element contributes to a richly tactile environment that balances contemporary function with a quiet reverence for the site’s original charm.
